Apple TV: The iPhone as a game controller

With the new Remote app you use your iPhone as future games controller.

A pple has released an update for the Apple TV remote app. The finished version of TVOS comes officially until autumn 2016 and makes the iPhone a game controller for the Apple TV to the fourth generation. Most functions of the new app, however, work well now. Who still wants to move to TVOS 10, the Beta downloads in the developer section of Apple.

iPhone as a gamepad

The update includes a new control option for games on the Apple TV, which turned the iPhone into a game controller. If you call the Remote app on, users can find the top of the navigation view a fresh symbol. As soon as one selects the start and the mode, the app switches to horizontal mode. In landscape mode, the touchpad surface is now on the left side of the iPhone, the button for the Select and the Play / Pause functions sit on the right side. For a better overview the system displays other features like the Siri button of the controller mode. Both the accelerometer and the gyroscope are the Apple TV as sensors now available.

Siri on board

In addition to the gaming function, the new Apple TV Remote App copied most of the features of Siri remote that can also be used on future smartphone. This provides you with recommendations by Siri available if you are looking for specific content in the iTunes library.
